This report, prepared for The Work Foundation, critically assesses current debates over stress and work. It examines both the notion of a contemporary 'epidemic of stress' and its causes, as well as dissenting opinions on the concept, and goes on to examine case studies of interventions to combat it. It recommends more directed approaches against the causes of stress in the workplace, and specific engagement with individuals most at risk.
